b“Where then is their G-d?!” For, he reasons, if there was a bJewish G-d who controls and dominates the world, He bwould not allow His people to be so humiliated. And so bevery time a Jew is beaten and a fist thrust into his face, this is bhillul Hashem, a void and desecration of the Name. The bgreatest of all the voids and vacuums was the Holocaust, in bwhich six million Jews were humiliated and destroyed. And bwith them was humiliated and desecrated the Name of the bJewish G-d, who was scorned by the Nazis for being “absent” band “gone.”

bThis is what the L-rd meant when he told the Prophet bEzekiel (36:20): “And when they (Israel) entered unto the bnations, whither they went, they profaned my holy bname . . .”

bThe very presence of the Jew in exile, shorn of his indepen- bdence, his state, his right to be a majority, his ability to fight bback, was desecration. This is why the creation of the State bof Israel is so meaningful. It is more than a state, it is the very bopposite of desecration; it is sanctification. And this the Jew bcannot understand, not the assimilator and not the vast bmajority of the so-called religious. Both remain side by side, bdesecrating G-d’s name in the American fleshpot, bwaiting—not even knowing that they are waiting—but wait- bing, nevertheless. Waiting for the Holocaust . . .

bIn the October 1972 issue of Playboy magazine a long binterview with me was printed. (And for those who want to bknow why I, a rabbi, allowed the interview, the answer is: bThink of all the Jewish readers of Playboy, and who needs bthe teachings of JDL more than they?) I again stressed the bneed for aliyah. The letters from the readers were predict- bable. The vast majority mocked and bitterly condemned the bthought of the need to leave for Israel. Letter after letter of bcriticism was printed. And then there was a final letter which bbegan, “Rabbi Kahane is right when he says there is no bJewish future in this country. America’s future is white, bAryan, and eventually—according to the immutable law of bhistorical development—National Socialist. Nothing can balter this fact. . . .” It was signed by Matt Koehl, head of bthe American Nazi Party.
